Sustainable and Transformative Sunsetting for Research and Teaching

Digital research projects are proliferating in departments and classrooms across Harvard, and the university requires a more structured approach to handling these projects as they reach end-of-life. This ETIP-funded project develops (1) an appraisal framework to help faculty and technical staff evaluate different sunsetting options, (2) investigates web recording platforms as a low-effort solution for preserving digital scholarship, and (3) explores ephemeral environments as a new option to reduce the total cost of ownership of complex end-of-life full stack applications.
